Porsche Technical Manual

FROM MY REVIEWS IN THE 356 REGISTRY:

Porsche (356) Technical Manual, by Elfrink, is an old (last edition in 1968) mini shop manual, with many photos pinched from the factory manuals.  While not perfect, it is small enough to carry in your glove compartment and is adequate when used along with several of the books listed above to work on your 356.  The original printing, which must have been huge to last almost 20 years, has been exhausted.  Fortunately, Elfrink has recently been reprinted and it is inexpensive listing at $19.95 to $31.95, depending on source.  Unfortunately, the illustration reproduction is dark and murky.

Elfrink’s PORSCHE TECHNICAL MANUAL, out of print for over 20 years has finally become unavailable.  It has been reprinted – by Lash publishing.  Reprinting from the book always loses something, but image loss is marginal and acceptable.  Unfortunately, a coarser grade of paper appears to have been chosen.  Still, this is a book that has been around, in various editions, for 25 years and is a very useful glove box manual – the only one I recommend.  If you want a small, inexpensive shop manual then buy Elfrink, not any of the others. You can tell this edition by looking at the title page where Lash Publishing is proclaimed.
