The title is a total misnomer.  One might think the book is about many generations of RUF Porsches — a book which needs to be written.  Rather it is about the development of the Porsche 901 — also a book which needs to be written.  And, the subtitle is wrong — the book covers the development of the 901 from the late 50s through the earliest 911s in the mid 60s not 1963 to 2023. 

As with all Berlin Motor Books the presentation is superb with high class paper and photo reproduction, numbered and boxed.  Many of the photographs and all of the technnical drawings and advertising brochures are from the factory arkivs.  The progress of the narrative is based on interviews with the yet-surviving Porsche employees.  

In additional is Alos Ruf who gives a knowledgeable history; apparently  justifying “RUF” in the title.  

The book could use a little more proofreading.  For instance:

- the carburetors other than the overflow Solexes used in production through early 1966 were Webers on Solexes 

- Since the late 50s Porsche color palettes changed on the even years. 

As with other books in the series the all of 901 cars are reproduced in color.

Amazingly and fortuitously, the factory has just published a book on the developement of the 901:  Destination 901.  Block’s Books has both of these books in stock.
