Generation Porsche by Frank Orel and Elmar Brümmer, this time in English, German and French is straight forward history, at least in terms of a captioned photographic book. Particularly interesting are the two page spreads first of a room covered with large family snap shots; followed photographs from the historical calendars, portraits of team divers shots of the museum. Leading off the history is the First Generation -- the Lohner Porsche, complete with a reproduction of Österreichische Patenetschricft Nr. 19237 for a crankshaft driven generator and one of my favorite images first seen in Genisus of Genius: the Lohrner-Porsche on a hill climb – except they have closed the road! Greater than a dozen interesting Porsches are covered, including exact but fewer reproductions of those seen in Icons -- for the Typ, 64, 356/1 and 356/2 Gmünd, Typ 360 as well as the 356B in Porsche Icon (including the photograph with Kommenda included) The Porsche Book – the Best Porsche Images as well a reasonable number of new pictures, as well as a collage of photographs starting, sometimes with models. Apparently these are taken of display cabinets in the factory museum. A lovely book with a sketchy but error-free history Generation Porsche is the price leader 35 € or $45 for at 491 pages, more than either of the other two, but smaller 21 x 21 cm format – many wonderful photographs, some even new. Buy it.
