FROM MY REVIEWS IN THE 356 REGISTRY:
PORSCHE 356, by Pasini and Solieri, is a medium format book of about 250 pages, of which the first 50 are a very decent history with several previously unseen contemporary black and white photos. Several are unknown to me -- including a marvelous two page spread of Ferdinand Porsche and Nuvolari, and a pretty 1930s pit bunny, standing by a Type A Auto-Union. Following is a set of specifications for 356 Porsches, unfortunately giving the impression that the 356A was available only as a 1300. The meat of the book is a 200 page, year-by-year retrospective, in COLOR, of all the International Porsche 356 Meetings, since 1976. It's very refreshing to see photographs of 356s other than the US regulars - and the "early" photos have an almost vintage look. No serious factual errors are present; though a page caption is missing and the next page's is moved up. The last few pages are a photographic guide to Porsche styling evolution. PORSCHE 356 is limited production (2500), possibly interest book, but the color photographs of 356s in spectacular places, such as Luneburg, Germany and Grossglockner, Austria, give the book a place on your bookshelves.
